Bailrigg FM

Bailrigg FM is one of the UK’s oldest student radio stations, first broadcasting across Lancaster University’s campus in 1969. It has the notable distinction of being the first student radio station to broadcast on an FM frequency, making its mark in the history of UK radio​​. The station has evolved with time, moving from 312m Medium Wave to its current FM frequency at 95.3 MHz, and even expanding its reach to an online live webstream​​. As a student-run and OFCOM-regulated station, Bailrigg FM offers a diverse range of content including music, news, drama, comedy, and entertainment. Programming is predominantly pop music, but during evening and weekend hours, presenters are given the liberty to diversify their playlists with their personal preferences​. In addition to its regular programming, Bailrigg FM conducts several large events throughout the year, including a seven-day Freshers\' Week outside broadcast and coverage of the Lancaster University Students\' Union (LUSU) sabbatical elections​​. A significant event in the station\'s calendar is the Roses Tournament, Europe’s largest varsity competition. Bailrigg FM collaborates with University Radio York (URY) to provide programming across both campuses, bringing together over two hundred student media volunteers for the event​​.
