Erewash Sound is a local, not-for-profit community interest company that operates an award-winning radio station serving the Erewash area in the United Kingdom. Launched in 2004 by a team of experienced volunteers, the station made its first FM broadcast in the summer of 2005. It was initially an internet-only service which started in January 2007 but received a full-time license from the broadcast regulator OFCOM in April 2008. The station now broadcasts on 103.5 and 96.8 FM, and also provides an online service for listeners to enjoy live broadcasts or listen again to recent features. The station is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and a board of non-executive directors. It offers a mix of music from the 1950s to the present day, local news and information, interviews, weather, travel, sports, competitions, and chat. The station also offers a diverse range of specialist music programming during the night. Presenters may vary from day to day due to the voluntary nature of the operation, which adds an element of surprise to the broadcasting lineup.
