Leeds Student Radio

Leeds Student Radio, also known as LSR, is the premier student-run radio station in Leeds, broadcasting live every day during term time from Leeds University Union. The station is open to students from any Leeds university, providing a platform to express their creativity and interests. Online listeners can tune in to enjoy a wide variety of content, including arts, comedy, music, sports, film, and even niche topics like shows about Taylor Swift and Eurovision​​. Founded in the 1970s as \'Network 4\', the station transitioned from broadcasting black-and-white programs on a closed circuit around the university to radio broadcasting, evolving into the Leeds Student Radio of today​​. With over 330 members, Leeds Student Radio stands as one of the largest student radio stations in the country. Managed by an elected committee of student volunteers, the station also employs a full-time station manager to oversee operations. The manager is selected through an application process involving a presentation, a question-and-answer session, and an interview with a panel, with the first selected manager being Richard Andrews​​. The station operates from a permanent office located on the first floor of Leeds University Union, equipped with two studios - one for live broadcasts and a production studio. The schedule for Leeds Student Radio is determined each semester and features a mix of core shows and individually-run shows that members can apply for.
