  Hello, welcome back to another edition of Warriors of the Word. This is episode 5, and we are going to begin a study on the life of David, who was considered a man after God's own heart. And he is the only man in the Bible referred to as a man after God's own heart. In 1 Samuel 13, 14, in the New King James Version, It says, But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you. And in Acts 13, 22, And when he had removed him, he raised up for them David as king, he whom also he gave testimony and said, I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all my will. Now, all of us want to ask the question, just what made David so special that God would say this about him? Was he perfect? No. Was it because he never made mistakes? Absolutely not. Was it because of his great leadership? Not exactly. His significance was not that he was perfect, but that he had a relationship with God. No matter what happened, he always turned around and repented. His faith in God set him apart from the others. Now, everyone that knows the story of David also knows that he had moments of weakness, made some very poor leadership decisions. But you know, God still didn't turn his back on him. God still loved him and still took care of him. Let me give you a scripture that backs this up. Jeremiah 17 10. I, the Lord, search the heart. I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. And David stood out from a lot of people because his heart was always pointed. towards God. Now, the life of David is a journey that every believer can relate to. And that's why I want us to take this journey of studying about his life to find out why he was considered to be a man after God's own heart. His story tells us that even the greatest leaders, the most powerful men, and the most beloved Figures of God. David had to learn patience just as we do because we learn that things are not in our time. Just as David had to learn, he had to wait for God. Look at Psalm 78, 70 through 72. He also chose David, his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds. From following the ewes that had young, he brought him to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skillness of his hands. He was learning the skills in the wilderness that would one day shape the destiny of an entire nation. So what did God do? He did what no one imagined. He issued a surprise invitation. to a nobody from Nowheresville. Now Nowheresville in this case was Bethlehem. It was a sleepy village that time had forgotten that was nestled in the foothills some six miles south of Jerusalem. And Samuel invited the elders and the family of Jesse to come to sacrifice the heifer he had brought with him. And when Samuel saw Eliab, the oldest son, he thought, surely the Lord's anointing is before him. Look at him, Lord. He is strong. He is tall. He is fit for battle. Eliab looks like a king. But God said, wrong. Nope, that's not who I want you to choose, Samuel. And in 1 Samuel 16, 7, what the Lord said to Samuel, do not look at his appearance. or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Each of the brothers were brought to Samuel, hoping to be chosen. One by one, seven of them passed before Samuel. And God said a huge no to each one of them. God didn't even hesitate to say no. And then in 1 Samuel 16, 11, it says, And Samuel said to Jesse, Are all the young men here? Then he said, There remains the youngest. And there he is, keeping the sheep.

  “The God who sees me” is the English translation of a Hebrew name: El Roi. “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26 NKJVWe discover this name of God in Genesis 16:14-15. We meet Hagar, an Egyptian slave, who encountered God in the desert and addressed Him as El-Roi, "the God who sees me." Let’s look at Jehovah Rapha – the God Who Heals. God is a healer and delights in healing—physically, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually. After escaping Egypt and walking on dry ground through the Red Sea, the Israelites find themselves three days in the wilderness (a barren desert) without water. Their bodies are craving liquid, and they have come too far to turn around—to do so would mean death. Sitting right in front of them is a body of water, but it’s undrinkable. The waters are polluted, contaminated, bitter. They called that place Marah (meaning bitter).“So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them, and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.””Exodus 15:25-26 NKJV“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 NKJVJesus went throughout all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all sorts of diseases among the people. His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought to Him all sick people who were taken with various diseases and tormented with pain, those who were possessed with demons, those who had seizures, and those who had paralysis, and He healed them (Matthew 4:23-24).“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”Jeremiah 17:14 NKJVJehovah Shalom – The Lord is PeacePeace doesn’t mean everything is always well and harmonious in our little worlds, or our circumstances are favorable and we have what we want. Jehovah Shalom means “the Lord is peace.” We first see this name for God appear in Judges chapter 6. Here we meet Gideon, the youngest son in the weakest family of the smallest tribe of Israel. At that time Israel is being oppressed by Midian, and they need to hide their crops from the enemy. This is where we see Gideon—threshing wheat in a winepress—hiding from the Midianites. The angel of the LORD appears to Gideon and calls him a “mighty man of valor” and instructs him to “go in this might” and save Israel from Midian. This calling seemed extreme and Gideon doubts. His heart immediately goes to his standing in his family, as the youngest, and in the community, as a member of the smallest clan. In fact, he doubts so greatly that he is the one chosen to save the people that he requests a sign from the angel, and the angel gives him a sign by making fire from a rock and burning up a meal. When Gideon realizes he has been in the presence of the angel of the LORD, his reaction is one of sheer panic. But the Lord speaks again saying to him, “Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall not die.” Gideon responds in worship by building an altar and naming it, “The LORD is Peace."

  Let’ review the names: YHWH (Yahweh) – the Self-Existent God; Elohim – the Creator God – the One who bring Order to Chaos. Adonai – the Sovereign Lord – the God who frees you from control. The first name we are going to study today is El Shaddai – the Almighty God – the God who turns things around. Its deeper Hebrew root reveals God as the "All-Sufficient One" or "The God Who is more than enough" “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” Genesis 17:1 NKJV Nothing is impossible for our God. “For with God nothing will be impossible.”” Luke 1:37 NKJV “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”” Genesis 18:14 NKJV“But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”” Matthew 19:26 NKJV God says “If I will it, it will be done.” "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" – Romans 8:31 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." – Isaiah 41:10. The next name I want us to look at is El Gibbor. In Hebrew, El Gibbor translates to "Mighty God” “Warrior God” or "Hero God". It is a compound of two Hebrew words: El: A common Semitic word for God, deity, or the divine. Gibbor: An adjective and noun meaning strong, mighty, a warrior, or a hero. It’s a word depicting bravery, courage, and action. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, (El Gibbor), Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 NKJVThe Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”” Exodus 14:14 NKJV. The Jewish Bible reads: “Adonai will do battle for you. Just calm yourselves down!” Sh'mot (Exo) 14:14 CJB. The Amplified Bible says to remain at rest. I Samuel 17:45 - “Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”” I Samuel 17:47 NKJV Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Will Provide – The God Who Provides Ahead of time. Translated from the Hebrew, Jireh means “to see” or “to provide.” On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” “And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”” Genesis 22:14 NKJV And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:19 NKJV “Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to his glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua.” Philippians (Php) 4:19 CJB. e knows what you need, and He will provide — in His way, and in His perfect time.

Many years ago an evangelist spoke over me and said that one day I would be able to reach a lot of people for Jesus. Due to technology, that time has now come. He is Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace.Just as knowing someone's name helps build a relationship, understanding God's names helps us know Him more intimately. Scripture teaches that those who know His name put their trust in Him."Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You." — Psalm 9:10 (NIV)Knowing God's names helps us pray with confidence. We approach God based on who He has revealed Himself to be. Our prayers become rooted in His character rather than our emotions or circumstances.When facing challenges, remembering God's names reminds us of His promises and abilities. If you need provision, you can trust Jehovah Jireh. If you need peace, you can call upon Jehovah Shalom. His names remind us that God is sufficient for every circumstance.Stand firm. Study deeply.
