The Data Fix is a podcast hosted by critical media studies scholar Mél Hogan, who is based in Canada. Through conversations with scholars, thinkers, and feelers, it explores what it means to live in a world increasingly shaped by data. Episodes focus on the rise of “digital humans,” including chatbots, holograms, deepfakes, AI-generated images and videos, and technologies that attempt to revive the dead. The conversations are minimally edited and serve as an archive of collective thinking around the Data Fix project. More details and show notes are available at thedatafix.net.

Care, with (Jennifer) Jill Fellows 14.09.2026 1h 1mThis episode is about care, attentiveness and the skill of being in relationship(s). (Jennifer) Jill Fellows and I discuss the rise of AI intimacy and the programmed sycophancy of generativeAI today, and what it reveals is that our emotional attachments to chatbots might be more about how easily we can convince ourselves of its significance than about any sophisticated technology. That said, when you talk to these chatbots, you enter into a relationship with a corporation that always already has money as a bottom line, not your wellbeing. This serves as an analysis and a warning. Recorded Sept 4, 2026. Released Sept 14, 2026.
