  • The Hidden Pattern in Proverbs 31 16.10.2026 37m
For years, Proverbs 31 was my least favorite chapter in the Bible. Every time I got there, it felt like one more list of things I wasn't doing. Then, while preparing a different episode, I found something I had never been taught. Starting at verse 10, Proverbs 31 is an acrostic poem. Each of its 22 verses begins with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet, from aleph to tav. She was written from A to Z, as a complete portrait. In this episode, we zoom out and look at her as a whole:✨ Why her description doesn't begin until verse 10✨ What an acrostic is, and why English readers have missed it✨ Her hands, her palm, her mouth: the letters that seem to take the shape of her life✨ Why "woman of valor" is warrior language✨ Why the book of Ruth comes right after Proverbs in the oldest complete Hebrew Bible✨ How Proverbs 31 is sung as a blessing at the Shabbat tableShe was never meant to be your to-do list. You were written whole.Tell me in the comments: had you ever heard that Proverbs 31 is a poem?📖 FREE PRINTABLE: The Alphabet of Her, all 22 Hebrew letters of Proverbs 31 on one guide → https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yvU1YWQFMxGrOgmqT0NBu0Lwx-n5I0px/view?usp=sharing📚 In Her Image: A 31-Day Devotional Journey Through Proverbs 31 → https://amzn.to/47WV2wh Signed copies (US Only) → andreajohn.com/resources💬 Join the In Her Image community on Facebook → https://www.facebook.com/groups/inherimage📸 Instagram → instagram.com/theandrea_vilarCHAPTERS0:00 Intro1:07 Zooming out to see the whole woman1:47 Her portrait starts at verse 105:36 Why Proverbs 31 used to exhaust me8:48 The discovery that stopped me in my tracks10:32 What an acrostic poem is12:19 Why English readers missed it13:19 Psalm 119 and the other acrostics15:05 Why write it this way: memory and completeness17:13 Her hands, her palm, her mouth20:28 A woman of valor22:12 Ruth comes right after Proverbs24:24 She was never a to-do list27:19 Eshet Chayil at the Shabbat table29:57 Which part of her do you see in yourself?30:53 This week: read it as a blessing33:13 ClosingCORRECTIONS: I misstated Psalm 91...It should have been Psalm 119. • Now a Flaw. A Fingerprint. 01.10.2026 22m
I did not speak a word of English on my first day of kindergarten. When the teacher pulled me to the center of the reading circle, something settled into me that took decades to unsettle: who I am is the wrong kind of person to be.This episode is me reading my chapter from Paper Crowns Volume3, out loud, start to finish. It is about the thing in you that has never quite fit. The way you have always been slightly outside the circle, even in rooms full of people who like you. The quiet suspicion that everyone else got a manual you never received.I spent years trying to find that thing so I could fix it. What I eventually understood is that it was never broken. It was placed there. Genesis says we are made in the image of God, and God is too vast for any one life to carry — so He distributed Himself across all of us, and gave each person a facet of His nature that only they can reveal. The thing that makes you feel like you do not belong anywhere may be the exact thing that lets you belong everywhere. It is not a flaw. It is a fingerprint.Stay to the end for four questions you can sit with this week to start naming your own. What's within you creates a ripple.📖 Read the chapter: https://www.andreajohn.com/weirdoisagift
  • She Laughs Without Fear: How to Laugh When You're Walking Through Hell (Proverbs 31:25) 15.09.2026 21m
Have you ever felt like you were living through hell on earth? Everything feels murky, you're exhausted, and you can't see the way forward. In this episode, Andrea opens up about the dark seasons she has walked through, sometimes more than once, and the hope that carried her through each one.Together we look at the second half of Proverbs 31:25: "She laughs without fear of the future." This isn't shallow optimism or pretending the hard things aren't real. It's a deep, steady hope rooted in the One who already holds your future. Andrea reads from her devotional In Her Image and walks through John 1:5 and Romans 15:13. She also shares what to do when the darkness feels so heavy that you can't find any laughter or hope in you.In this episode:Why joy isn't the absence of hardship but the result of hopeHow to laugh at the enemy when he throws everything at youAn honest prayer for the moments you're struggling to believeThe small, unexpected ways God speaks and shows upHow hope and vision are tied togetherA closing prayer for every woman walking through a hard seasonScriptures: Proverbs 31:25, John 1:5, Romans 15:13Join the 31-Day Group Devotional (starts October 1)Spend 31 days in Proverbs 31 with us at your own pace, using the In Her Image devotional.Order on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4yJyZ7XKindle: https://amzn.to/4yJyZ7XOrder a signed copy (US only): https://andreajohn.com/resourcesUnveiling Purpose Women's Retreat | November 6–8, 2026 | Palm Coast, FLA weekend of transformation where we answer the big questions: Who am I? • Generosity Isn't Giving More. It's Learning to Receive 12.08.2026 41m
When I told my friend Veronica I saw generosity in her, she laughed: "Me? Generous? Really?" Many tie generosity to money. It's so much more than that.Veronica O'Brien has lived a lot of lives — nurse, surgery center director, real estate, and now building a tech startup with her husband. But her real work is pouring into women: mentoring, exhorting, drawing out the gifts God placed in her friends. This week's character trait is generous and this conversation will change how you think about giving. In this episode:Generosity beyond money: your time, your words, your presenceWhy time may be the most precious gift you can give in this seasonThe gold nugget you don't see coming: generosity means learning to RECEIVEWhen you refuse someone's help, you rob them of a blessing and yourself of loveLetting go of the dream house: what God taught her about holding things looselyLoving your literal neighbors: why missions starts on your own streetHer quick win: stop saying "no, I don't want to be a bother." • Why you don't feel like yourself 07.07.2026 46m
Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, "When did I stop being me?"Maybe you've spent so much time trying to meet everyone's expectations that you've lost sight of who God created you to be. Maybe you're exhausted from wearing different masks in different places, saying yes when you want to say no, or feeling like your faith and everyday life don't quite fit together. In this episode, Andrea explores one of the character traits of the Proverbs 31 woman: integrity.Integrity is about far more than simply telling the truth. At its core, integrity means wholeness—living as one person no matter where you are or who's watching. It's about aligning your heart, your words, your actions, and your identity so you can live with freedom instead of performance.Throughout the episode, Andrea shares personal stories, biblical insight, and practical encouragement to help you recognize the subtle ways we become divided and how God calls us back to becoming whole. You'll discover:What integrity really means from a biblical perspectiveWhy people-pleasing erodes your identityHow fear causes us to hide parts of ourselvesWhy living authentically leads to greater peace and freedomOne simple practice you can begin today to live with greater integrityIf you've ever felt like you've lost yourself, this conversation will remind you that God isn't asking you to become someone else. He's inviting you to become fully who He created you to be.🎵 She used to be mind by Sara Bareilles:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53GIADHxVzM📘 Order In Her Imagehttps://amzn.to/4aEmkJLConnect with Andrea🌐 https://andreajohn.com📘 Facebook: @OfficiallyAndrea📷 Instagram: @andreajohnauthor
  • When You're Too Busy to Become Who You're Meant to Be 03.06.2026 34m
It's a busy season. Whether you're closing out a school year, sliding into summer, or staring down a July 1 fiscal year. So instead of forcing an interview this week, Andrea sits down at the table for a slower, solo conversation and uses it to share three things she's been quietly building behind the scenes of In Her Image.First, the brand-new In Her Image App. A single home for the daily devotional rhythm, the e-version of the devotional book, the audiobook, short Bible plans, a book-club registry, the podcast, and a private community for the women in this work. Then, the November ladies' retreat — Unveiling Purpose — where Andrea will debut, for the first time, what she's calling The Ripple Framework. And finally, a first look at the framework itself: a six-step process for uncovering the purpose God planted in you before you were born.Andrea closes with one small practical exercise: The Mirror Question that you can carry with you every morning until next week's episode. If this season has felt like slow forming inside a loud calendar, this one's for you.
  • Why Do We Wait to Be Kind? 20.05.2026 41m
When I was going through chemo, I noticed something I have not been able to unlearn since. The moment people found out I had cancer, their whole face would change. A pharmacy clerk would slow down. A cashier at Publix would mean it when she called me sweetheart. And I would drive home and wonder — why do we wait until someone is sick to be kind?In this solo episode, we sit with Proverbs 31:20 — "She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy" — and talk about the difference between polite and kind, why we keep a register of real kindness locked away for people we know are suffering, and what it would mean to live the other way.If you're a tired, devoted woman carrying something nobody can see — pull up a chair.⏱ Chapters01:00 — The pharmacy clerk who changed everything04:00 — A cashier at Publix that gave me hope06:30 — Sitting with Proverbs 31:2007:30 — Two words that change everything: opens and extends12:30 — The lie about kindness most women believe15:00 — How God moves toward you (and what chesed means)19:30 — Three questions to sit with this week22:30 — One small practice25:00 — A benediction for the woman carrying something invisible27:00 — Where to go next📖 Anchor verse: Proverbs 31:20💌 Come sit at the table with us:Join the In Her Image community on Facebook → https://www.facebook.com/groups/inherimage📚 Go deeper:In Her Image: A 31-Day Devotional Journey Through Proverbs 31 — available on Amazon. https://amzn.to/4eZFAEASigned copies at andreajohn.com/resources#InHerImage #Proverbs31 #ChristianWomen #FaithPodcast #KindnessMatters #CancerSurvivor #ChristianWomenPodcast
