No Middle Ground For A Jew | Parshas Lech Lecha 5787 20.10.2026 1h 12mParshas Lech Lecha 5787Parshas Lech Lecha 5787Hours before he is sent to the gallows, Haman’s demise and complete destruction is predicted to him by his wife and advisors. They reminded Haman that the Jews are compared to dust and stars. ‘When they descend - they go all the way down to the dust. But once they begin to rise - they rise all the way to the stars. This Shiur explores the deeper meaning of the analogy of amidst and stars.
No One Cares What You Know | Parsha Shiur Noach 5787 12.10.2026 1h 22mParsha Shiur Noach 5787 | No One Cares What You KnowThe flood of Noach destroyed the entire world. Only Noach, his family and the inhabitants of the Teivah remained. Rashi quotes from the Midrash, that even the earth itself was victim to the wrath of the flood. The top 3 Tefachim of the ground were dissolved and washed away. The Midrash seems to see the planet earth as being partly responsible for the corruption that possessed the entire world. The Baal Haturim says, the very earth itself was filled with corruption. This Shiur explores the spiritual significance of the flood. The world itself was purified and elevated through it.

Drinks On The House | Parsha Shiur Ekev 5786 30.07.2026 1h 6mParsha Shiur Ekev 5786Parsha Shiur Ekev 2026In Parshas Ekev, Moshe repeats the story of the Jews worshiping of the Egel Hazahav 40Days after the giving of the Torah and the resulted breaking of the Luchos. From the Pessukim it becomes clear that Moshe had the Egel itself burned, pulverized into pieces, crushed, ground up till it was as fine as dust, mixed with water and given to the Jews to drink. The Gemara explains that the purpose was similar to the function of Sotah waters given to a woman suspected of infidelity. And for some of the Jews who were guilty, the repercussions were similar to those of a Sotah. This Shiur explores a Commentery of the Baal Haturim on the significance of the connection to ‘dust’. -
No Fear In The Heart of a Jew | Parsha Shiur Vaeschanan 5786 22.07.2026 1h 33mHashem instructed Moshe Rabbeinu:וצו את יהושע וחזקהו ואמצהוRashi writes that the purpose of this was to assuage any fears that Yehoshua would have that he would not end up going into EY. ‘Just as my teacher was punished so I am destined to be punished…’The Baal Haturim points out that the word וחזקהו appears only in one more place in all if Tanach. It is in Shmuel Bais and it is at the end if the story of Dovid and Bat Sheva. Dovid sends a message to Iyov his chief of staff and the head of his army. Baal Haturim points out that Yehoshua was also the head of the Jewish army. Moshe himself appointed Yehoshua to this position and sis so in order to strengthen him. This Shiur explores the true nature of Yehoshua’s concerns that he would be pinished ‘just like his teacher.’ We also explore some of the difficult elements in the relationship between Dovid and Yoav. Why this in particular was relevant to Yehoshua’s concern. In the end, we emerge with a deepest understanding of Hashem and Moshe’s reassurance. ׳ -

The Tantrum And The Embrace | Parsha Shiur Emor 2026 28.04.2026 1h 15mParsha Shiur Emor 2026Parsha Shiur Emor 2026Toward the end of Parshas Emor, the Torah describes a fight between 2 individuals. One of them blasphemes and curses the name of Amighty GD. The Jews did not know what his consequence was supposed to be. He was placed in captivity until instructions would be received by Hashem. Eventually he received capitol punishmnent. This Shiur explores the identity of this individual. Who was he? Who were his parents? Why did he curse the ‘name of GD?’ What was he hoping to accomplish? What was the significance of his incarceration? The Baal Haturim finds a connection between this story in our Parsha and the story in Parshas Vayera were Lot and his family are physically removed from the city of Sedom.
No Decision Is Worse Than The Wrong Decision | Parsha Shiur Acharei Mos Kedoshim 5786 21.04.2026 1h 15mNo one other than the Kohen Gadol was allowed to enter the Kodesh Hakodoshim and even he could only do so on Yom Kippur. The Torah is unequivocal - Failure to observe this law results in immediate death. The Baal Haturim finds a connection between this Mitzva and the relationship between King Achav and Eliyohu Hanavi. Achav was a fascinating character. The Mishnah lists him as one of the kings who don’t have a share in the world to come. Yet, the Talmud insists that he was forgiven for ‘half of his sins…’The Talmud speaks of the importance to ‘face the correct direction’ while praying otherwise on is considered a Rasha. This Shiur explores the deeper meaning of some of these ideas and the connection between them.
First Surrender Then Transcend | Parsha Shiur Tazria Metzora 5786 13.04.2026 1h 13mThe Metzora has to tear his garments, grow his hair and mustache and announce to everyone that he is impure. He is exiled out of the camp and he must sit alone. The process is designed to break his ego. We hope he will learn to stop speaking ill of others. But in his heart, the Metzora may wonder: ‘did I really do something so terrible?… After all, did I not tell the truth?… Why shoot the messenger? The Baal Haturim may gently be guiding us to a deeper layer of the purification of the Metzora. One where we empower the Metzora to a deeper level of understanding. So, he can come to truly understand that what he sees in others is a reflection of himself - not them. Once he himself is cleansed he will see others in a positive light as well.
